Three South Korean officers injured in unexplained DMZ explosion

South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said on September 21 that the blast occurred inside the western DMZ, south of the Military Demarcation Line. The three injured service members were South Korean officers conducting a military operation.

Reuters reported that two were evacuated directly by helicopter. The third was first moved by vehicle and later transferred to a helicopter. The Associated Press, citing the Defense Ministry, said all three were being treated at a military hospital near Seoul.
